It's time to get out my soapbox and rally the troops. Prepare to be motivated! Cue the Sousa marches. Here's my message, "INVEST IN YOURSELF".
Invest in being better at whatever you do professionally.
Get a professional certification.
Take continuing education courses.
Go to worthwhile conferences.
Read books, articles and journals related to your profession.
Find a mentor and be a mentor.
Invest in your mind.
Read more books. More than 75% of what you learn in life you learn after you leave college. Read fiction, history, biography, science, and anything else you enjoy.
Take an online college course. Pursue an interest you have.
Learn a new language.
Do the cross word puzzle each day.
Read my Blog and learn to how to invest your money.
Find a hobby and practice it.
Invest in your body.
Walk, swim, run, bike, dance or do whatever you enjoy to improve your physical condition. Do it at least 30 minutes a day, four or five days per week.
Eat healthy. Keep portion sizes moderate.
Have an annual checkup with your doctor. Follow their advice.
Invest in your relationships.
Spend time with your loved ones. Talk to each other about everything.
Learn successful techniques for managing conflict. I recommend "Crucial Conversations" and "Crucial Confrontations" and the Golden Rule.
Build memories together on vacations.
Eat dinner together.
Serve one another. To serve someone is to learn to love them.
If you are going to live to be in your 70s or 90s, you might as well enjoy the journey. I hope this helps. What do you recommend? What would you add to the list?
